Just got my time served letter

signed, notarized and sealed. I am so all a twitter, 15 years to get a 8-1/2 year letter.
Now aside from getting every test related publication that Mike Holt offers, what do I need to do, how do I navigate the licensing process in the DC , Md, Va area. My plan is to take the test in Md and DC first since DC dosent reciprocate with anyone and then recip the MD license with Va.

Then I am dreaming of becoming the in house master at some office building or hospital or university. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Congradulations. For the career goals you describe, may I suggest that you study as much as possible about air conditioning/ heating systems. Also energy management systems, and how those are controlled. Leave the nasty old plumbing up to plumbers however.

For MD Master go to www.dllr.state.md.us. Then click on "occupational and professional licensing" and the "Master Electrician Board". You will find the information on taking the Maryland Master test there. You will also need to get county licenses in whatever MD county in which you will be working. The MD test will be all you need, just pay your fee and get a reciprocal license in the county. You may also take your test in any county and then get a reciprocal state license, it is your choice. does it make a difference if I take the DC test first?

Energy management and the whole power quality thing does interest me... I was going to ask how you would recommend studying those two areas... but then i remember I have a almost finished BS in Electrical engineering. so I guess I should make aging parents happy and finished what I started first.

I live in Virginia and got all my licenses 30 years ago when I had to take a test in each jurisdiction, 2 in Maryland, one for DC and 6 in VA. Now you can take 3 and do it all. I would apply for all the licenses and first come first serve. The VA Class A was one of the easier test I took (this was 18 years ago).
