Hi, first post here.
Planning for some future automation on residential branch light fixtures. This is to be inspected. I want to add ON /OFF ( or other) capabilities later on so I need a box inline on the branch to put stuff in. Here is the question; Can I run the wire (say 14/2&G) into a double switch box and right back out with a small service loop without cutting the wire? Plastic box seems OK? Metal box would need the ground attached i'm sure. All other rules will be followed, fasteners, cover. These boxes will actually be in the panel room with access to the covers.
Thanks

Leave the slack on both ends outside the box so you can pull it in later, or just make up the splice without the switch and install a blank plate.....Welcome to the forum..:thumbsup:

Thanks LEO2854
Leaving slack is the ticket, then a box can be installed in line or not. This allows me to defer all this until later. Nothing installed, no code issue.
Looks like a great forum.
