I passed the "Texas Master Electrician" exam on Saturday, the SBCCI.

I have been lurking on this board for a few months reading and looking around, the information I learned from here was very useful.

My boss ordered a complete set of books from Tom Henry. No offense to Mike Holt either. I was reading and studying everything I could get my hands on.

1st time was 69%
2nd time I passed no problem
I felt like it was high 90's but they won't tell you only if you pass or fail.

It sure felt good.

Anyway I just wanted to say Thanks to all of you for all of your good posts and wisdom with this website.
I work in Dallas, so I am sure our paths will cross sooner or later.

Take care

Good Job!

Good Job!

I took & passed the ICC Master Electrician exam Jan. 2005 and I'm still studying. To stay competitive in the electrical trade our learning has to be in perpetual motion. I'm going to take a variable speed drive class this coming spring at a local junior college besides take the electrical inspector exam.
If anyone has the time, I recommend reading Thomas Friedman's "The World Is Flat."

In Colorado, that is the most frustrating score you can get on a test - it's 1% from passing. I've heard a lot of guys who've gotten that score.

Nowdays, they've done away with even giving a score if you fail, here. It's a bar graph with no numbers so you can see what you're weak in.

You can add me to the list. I managed a 69% the first time I took my master exam. I had to wait the required six months before I could retake it, but I had no trouble passing it the second time around.

Retired after 40 years as an electrician.
69% seems to be magic number for the master's. I got a 69% the first time I took the Washington State Masters. Did the Mike Holt Masters comp video and workbook series (heard about MHE through a contractor magazine). Scored an 86% for my over-all second time around. Big thanks to Mike Holt for keeping the complicated simple.

Been doing Mike Holt Enterprises CEU's since 1993...

First of all congrats on passing the test.
I to failed but with a 68. But the second time passed.
I believe its more frustrating missing by a few points and being that close to pass.

The *texas Master Exam* Is By Icc And There Are No Scores Given, Its Only Pass Or Fail

When you take the SBCCI exam with Lazer grade testing center
(Computer Base) if you fail they give you the % you made and what you need to study.

When you pass you get the PASS no percentage.

I know the info, cause the nightmare is still fresh in my mind.
