I thought you might be interested in seeing last years model (maybe a bit older) of a panelboard. It has exposed fuse links with the dreaded K & T wiring. No, it is not energized and has a plastic cover so you can actually see it in the Adam's House in Deadwood, SD (yes, I had permission to take the photo with my cell phone). :)

Are there 3 separate wires per each fused link as they are set up in that panel??

Sorry, I was on a tour and didn't have time to really look at the panelboard. We were not to take pictures but was given permission to take this one. I suspect the panelboard was from the same era as this one. :)

Great photo Charlie. They sure don't make them like that anymore. I'd love to get my hands on something like that. We have a wall of electrical antiquities in the office at work, that would make a great addition.

A few long screws in a board through the tubes at 30 degrees from vertical an inch from from each other (Bulbous side up).... Like a V with a gap at the bottom. And the short ones will due just fine, but the long ones are easier to use - they only need contact on the edge. Once screwed down - put a big dollop of epoxy at the bottom so they don't spin.... Once thats cured, to use it hold the knive vertical and use a slicing motion the length of the blade on one side, then the other - and repeat. FYI - they are pretty course porciline, but wear in nicely. I'd post a picture if my cat had not busted mine last year....

Also - just for fun if you have a few deformed ones - shut out the lights and smash em with a hammer....

Thanks for the info. I'll try it.

You should have skinned your cat with the sharp knife.;)
