Hello,
I have a customer in need of either a keyed switch or a numeric keypad to control some fluorescent lights.

If it is a keyed switch, it must have the ability to contain a Medeco cylinder (to be a part of the buildings existing key system) and have the capacity to control a 20 amp 277 volt lighting circuit.

If it is a numeric keypad (preferable), it needs to have the ability to control a 20 amp 277 volt lighting circuit. Do they make a self-contained switch that can do this? I can put a system together with a keypad, contactor, etc, but would rather install a self-contained unit.

I am hoping I can tap some of your experience to see if such products even exist.

Thanks!
Jacob

Use of a relay/contactor could make the choices limitless IMO. And may be your best bet for choice on it, as you may find it very difficult to find anything with that voltage anf amperage range.

Keyswitch, Inc. is one of the bigger names in keyed switches. They offer the Medeco keyway. They use Oak Switch and Electroswitch contact blocks, but none of them seem to have the rating you need. I second the motion to just use the keyed switch to run the coil of a lighting contactor. Shouldn't be a big deal if you're dealing with a drop ceiling.

I third the motion

Go with a coil/contactor cutler hammer makes inexpensive contactors where asco is the cadillac whatever the market will bear and charge acordingly. This makes it easier to select your switch type too.
