I am trying to install a key pad access on an exterior door, the issue is the exterior classification is Class 1 Division 2, I cannot find a keypad that will meet the area classification or that is intrinsically safe. I am starting to doubt myself, if the key pad is required to be C1D2, I cannot locate anything definitive in the code. any input would be greatly appreciated.

Can you find a housing for the keypad that is sealed, including a membrane cover over the keys?
Not sure if that would make a difference or not.
What will you be doing about the wiring to the keypad?

What is the classification on the outside (operators side) of the door?

That whole system could be out there and not need to meet the classification on the other side of the door, right?

thanks for the input everyone, I may not have explained it well, but the keypad is for access into door entry into the building, I can find weather proof keypads, but all the door locksmiths I have talked to, are not aware of a device that will meet the area classification. the exterior where the keypad will be mounted is Class 1 division 2, the interior or other side the door is unclassified.
