Can a Sm120X relay be added anywhere in a group of interconnected smoke detectors?

Existing residential smoke detectors and am looking to activate a strobe and a audible signal.

If they are interconnected I would think so. Depends on the output of the interconnect wire.

Before you make a decision check the manufacturer's specs. I believe yo can do what you propose based on what I've read in this partial spec :
A maximum of 24 Kidde Safety devices may be interconnected in a multiple station arrangement. The interconnect system should not
exceed the NFPA interconnect limit of 12 smoke alarms and/or 18 alarms total (smoke, CO, Smoke/ CO Combination, heat, etc.). With 18 alarms
interconnected, it is still possible to interconnect up to a total of 6 remote signaling devices and / or relay modules.

The short answer is "yes". Per goldstar, check the manual for details. You can use a System Sensor 120 volt outdoor unit, or Wheelock makes one that is indoor rated.
