I decided to cheap out and get a Kindle Fire instaed of an Ipad. It wasn't just the price, I like the size better.

I am having a problem with responding to posts on this site ( I haven't tried other sites). When I try to reply it allows me to type into the title box but when I touch the message area my virtual keyboard does not show so I can't type my reply. Anybody seen this and figured out a fix?

FWIW, my kid says it is just operator error.

I too went with a Kindle, as I have enough computing options, and smart phones are physically too small for my taste.

I hope the kids are right. I'd hate to conclude that I can't use the Kindle for message board responses. I bought it so I wouldn't have to go upstairs every time I need to go on line. Right now I am upstairs in the office and I would rather be in my recliner with the Kindle

Im posting this from my kindle fire :) its pretty cool to browse the web on it.

Edited with the kindle, too. No problems here.

I have the Barns and noble Nook color and it can do everything my computer can do but fits in my coat pocket.

The nice feature of having a nook is the support, is looks and feels like your in a apple store, there is no support with some of the other 7 inch tablets, also i can browse all the tech books, and review a buy them on the reader

You know, the more I think about it, Kindle was pretty smart to call it "Fire". Think about it - someday, if there were ever a defect resulting in the things catching fire, you couldn't google the story. ;)

George, I stopped by a Best Buy store on christmas eve, and the Kindle's were stacked on pallets and they were all over the floor with people walking on them, and the store was full of shoppers looking for tablets, all the good ones at a good price were sold out, everyone just walked by the pile of kindles, and stepped over the ones on the floor, from there I went to a BN store to look at a nook and there was a nice display and a counter for information and help about the nook, just like an apple store, and they have on going help with all their products, it seems with most of the other tablets, you need to email and wait and hope, for any kind of service, I still can't get that picture out of my head with all those kindle's being ignored.

It wasn't even a year ago when Kindle was making a big deal out of having a machine that didn't get glare from the sun...then they put out this thing that is just as susceptible to glare as the product they were smearing in their commercials.

My wife boguht me a Kindle Touch for Xmas.

The touch screen is not the greatest thing for typing on.

I do like it for reading.

The web browser is pretty limited.
