disposal switch

disposal switch

We were turn down on an inspection in Lee county Florida because the switch was almost 3 feet away on a side wall. There is no room for the switch any closer to the sink due to the higth of the bar.

The location of the switch for the disposer is a design consideration and cannot be enforced by the inspector. Did the inspector provide you a code section on the advisory?

I often install the disposal on a switched receptacle, with the switch under the sink inside the cabinet. There's usually room to do it that way, and it keeps the switch from being confused with a light switch.

As for the inspector, either he's following a local code, or he's making it up. I've never heard of any rule requiring the disposal switch to be within a certain distance of the disposal.
