Will the code be satisfied if kitchen outlets are inside cabinet doors instead of exposed? I think there is a 6” max overhang requirement from edge of countertop. So I suppose as long as I mount them toward the front, just behind the doors, it should work?

With said overhang, I have mounted a surface box (usually a Wiremold box) on under side of overhanging counter and within six inches of the edge of the top.

Thanks. Customer is ok me adding exposed outlets. But she is also asking me for outlets under the bar at the island too Those would be beyond the 6” overhang rule but is it ok to install them when the code requirements will be met with other outlets exposed and not under the countertop ?

As I heard on this forum before, Sillites.

I don't think you can use these on a small appliance branch circuit since they're a single 15 amp receptacle, can you?

Around here the inspector won't allow a single 15 amp receptacle on a 20 amp circuit. It has to be a duplex.
What are they citing as being the problem? As David stated, if there is more than one on the circuit there is no problem.

One inspector made me change a single to a duplex a few years ago and said a single 15 amp receptacle couldn't be on a 20 amp circuit and it had to be a duplex 15. I think he thought the device itself had to have more than one receptacle rather than the circuit. Either that or maybe he just didn't realize that the single receptacle I had installed wasn't the only one on the circuit........ I should've called him and questioned him about it but he's the AHJ so I just swapped it out.

I believe the inspector needs an education or given some info. The sillites are what we use all the time on kitchen cabinets. We bought a bit 1 3/4" I believe, and only used it for the sillite receptacles. There is very little play on those so the hole must be exact.
