Fridges are chord and plug. So are dish washers or use of a switch. Ranges and ovens are also or lockable breakers.
The question is, do hard wired kitchen hoods with built in controls need a separate chord and plug or breaker lock out?
Thank you
Often under 1/8 HP so no.
The math doesn't add up but ?
240W = 1/3HP, so 430.81(B) applies. Plug in.
Side issue: 2x1/3HP hood fans? Is this a commercial hood being installed in a residence?
Question on the breaker locks for say the built in oven. I have seen it on the forum before. Never heard of it or had it questioned in 25yrs. What would the code section be and do they really enforce that in Jersey? Curious in ConnecticutTo the best of my knowledge it's a residential unit.
It has several speed buttons and two or three led lights.
It's on sight and briefly looked at it. I tried getting info during rough a few months ago bit no real info on it
It was on a page with different wood cabinet specs and finishs and this hood fan.
I'll do a chord and plug. Or as it was near enough to the panel and didn't want to add it to other circuits I roughed , I pulled it's own circuit. So I'm thinking if I choose i could also hard wire it and put a breaker lock on it. Right?
Thanks for the input.

is this Italian made hood UL listed ??
I see in 422.31 B it says over 300 Volt-amps would have to be lockable in the open position.I'll let you know.
I did read the oven would need cord and plug. But asked for opinion from forum and received a couple lock suggestions so thought that the way to go. Inspector is a great guy. Don't think it will be an issue.
Also The plans were approved during the last code cycle so he said I can wire per 2011. I'm floating between 11 and 14 with methods.
