this is just for the 'principle' of debate.
I have a friend that has an old house , rental that has knob and tube wiring in it (built in 1952, no ground).
Most of the recepticles are 2 prong, no ground. He puts in a celing fan, just tapped into knob and tube. There is no ground. I told him 'techinically' by CODE its suppose to be grounded, celing fan that is. He tries to debate with me and say it doesnt have to be cause the house doesnt have it and that has been grandfathered in.
I say the HOUSE has, NOT the ceiling fan.
Even though the likely hood of any one messing with the ceiling fan getting shock is VERY remote and i wouldnt really worry about it, he is techinically against code.
I couldnt find the code article to back me up, could you help me?? and just for the sake of principle of debate, would you install a ceiling fan in a knob and tube house??
