kohler 80kw used gen

hi all
i looked at a used gen install today no paper work kohler mdl # 80rozj
this is the first big one for me. it has a 225a main inside the gen cab
and it came with a 400a manual trans sw. (supposedly came from a bank
dont know why its manual).
can the wp trans sw be used as a disconnect if mounted on building by gen ?

It will depend upon the transfer switch, some manual transfer switch's have a center position off, and have either fuses or a breaker, it has to be service rated and have a lockable center off to be used as a disconnect.
If I remember right it will be marked "Suitable for use as service equipment" and will be provided with OCPD and a bondable neutral bar if it applies.
 
IMO, unless you fall under the provision of 702.11 where you would not need the disconnect, you would need to meet the requirement of 225.36 and it would have to be listed as service equipment.

That would depend upon where he is going to use it as a disconnect, 225.36 would apply if it is an out building already protected by an upstream OCPD which would mean it would not be required to have its own OCPD, but if used at a service 230.91 would require it to have OCPD or located immediately adjacent to it,
