Does Kohler spec copper conductors for their generators? I have read the online manual for the 14/20 RES and cant find anything under field connections where they require copper. Thanks.

I have always used copper but Kohler dose not say what they recommend. On some longer runs have used 2G AL to inside gen and 1'-3G copper whips with Polaris bugs. I would also recommend drilling power and low voltage communication conduit holes higher than Kohler recommends to give more room for gas piping.

How much higher? There is not much room between where the gas piping enters and the bottom of the field termination block.

I like to place both my holes about 1.5" above Kohler's recommended ATS signal hole.I drill communication hole on left and electrical inlet on right. Power block is about 6" above hole.
