I'm in NW Atlanta and power was just restored after being down since late Friday afternoon. I have a Kohler 20 RESA generator that has been running since then. Power has been back on for about 30 minutes, but I'm evidently still on generator power. Normally, once the utility power comes back on, the transfer switch switches back to utility power and the generator shuts down (can't remember if the shutdown happens immediately or after a few minutes).
How do I verify that the utility power is back? With all the trees down in this area, there is a chance I don't have line power, but all my neighbors seem to. Do I just manually flip the transfer switch back to the normal position?
