Much more plastic, and more start up / check out time.

Another thought. On the CAT generator set we installed (and I'm sure all others), the factory installed conductors between the generator and breaker/control cabinet are sleeved in nothing more than glorified dryer hose.

When you spend $100s of thousands on a generator, you would expect that you would get a bit more than soft plastic raceways, but not so. :(

Isn't #1 Diesel and Kerosene the same thing? I have an older Mercedes Benz and it burns vegtable oil in the summer, and either a little #1 or #2 diesel mixed in for the winter.

I thought they were basically the same, but today a diesel mechanic told me that kerosene is bad for modern injectors. I gotta go look at that chevron site somone posted...

More or less, but as kerosene is typically far more readily available than #1, I suggested kerosene. The difference, as I recall, is particulates and sulfur, I think. If properly filtered before adding, a little should go a long way towards cutting down paraffin buildup.

Apropos the Benz, that's what my Dad bought when we were kids. He somehow figured he could save money buying one expensive German car rather than 3 or 4 cheaper ones, so we had the same giant M-B 200D forever.
