Hello every one, I have been asked by the owner for a project I'm doing (Detention Center & Courthouse) to provide him some information on what is the usage in KWhr/year per square foot figures for these type of buildings. Not sure where to find these kind of information. Can some one please direct where I can find these kind of information?

Thank you in advance,

Short answer: Find an appropriate value for ?Watts per square foot? for that type of facility, and divide by 9.

More complete answer: The owner does not understand the question he is asking. The unit, ?kilowatt hours per year? is a unit of power, not energy, and it cannot be directly translated into dollars paid to the utility. It is a simple matter of unit conversion to go from ?kilowatt hours per year per square foot? to ?watts per square foot,? and the conversion factor is about 1/9.

Find this info at your friendly local electrical utility.

Yep, find a utility company that serves a similar facility, and they should have kwhr and also maximum demand (kw) for that facility. Applying square footage differences should get you in the ballpark.
