Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get custom labeled outlet/switch covers? I have seen some plastic switch covers with the panel # and circuit # imprinted in the plastic with black ink. I like it and looks more professional than using a label maker where the labels could peel off eventually. Is there a special stenciling kit for this? Any advice is appreciated!

Unless the job specifications require it I think it will be far too costly to do so just because it is pretty.

Black on clear P-touch tape looks good and won't come off if the surface is cleaned first.

I've had to do this in the past for hospitals. I may be wrong but I thought we had them made that way by the manufacturer

Some P-Touch labels do not stick well. I did some testing, put some product in the sun for a month and I was able to pull the label off very easily.

But they also have some new stronger adhesive and I can tell you I tried removing one and it did not want to come off. It started to damage the surface from which I was trying to remove it.

Their engineers are accessible. I was looking for some UL acceptable label stock, not to print the NRTL mark, but to have other information on a product without compromising our listing, and their engineers stepped right up. They have listings on many, but not all of, their products.

They also have a product which won't come off without the label being destroyed (not sure how passionate you are about those switch plates) kind of like the renewal sticker on your license plate.

They told me they have a customer who uses P-Touch on cryogenic specimen bottles which go down to minus a gazillion degrees and they work well.

We use P-Touch clear with black font in our plant. It has worked well.

I really doubt his outlet and switch covers are going to be outside in the Florida sun. :D

That aside I 'stick' by my statement that P touch labels stick very well IF YOU CLEAN the surface first. Rubbing alcohol works well.

Yes you can get high adhesive P-touch labels but I don't think you can get them in clear.

The Curio will do it. It is the only cost effective way I can think of to justify the extra cost over regular labels. My wife has a similar machine to cut vinyl and it is pretty neat and actually a lot of fun. The Curio is more versatile and engraves / cuts / draws and would be a new toy and a tax write-off.

Ask and you shall receive. (maybe it's new)
