Labeling of dishwasher and disposer switches

Quick question. Is it now a code requirement to label dishwasher and disposer switches in a kitchen with a non-removable label (ie, stickers are not allowed, rather a sharpie on the cover plate is accepted)?

Superintendent at a house I inspected said it was a new requirement and that the AHJ would not give him CO until he wrote "dishwasher" and "disposer" on the wall plate. Looks like crap. How difficult would it be to determine which switch does what?
 
I use a small brother labeler, 1/2" white tape, black letters, self laminating, very durable labels. I use it on every job (industrial control panels, wells, pump stations). The labelers are inexpensive, maybe $40, fast to use, get the tapes at Staples.
I use a PTouch PTE300 as it does heat shrink, on a typical job, perhaps 100 heat shrink labels on 14 AWG wire

My dishwasher is powered through a wall switch. I don't know why; the switch is on all the time except for when the dishwasher won't start and at first I think it's broken.
