As far as hourly rates go, do all here charge the same rate regardless of the type of work? i.e., are your rates the same for residential service/troubleshooting vs machine hookup/control wiring/starters/motors etc. Thanks.

We have different rates for every class of work, construction contract rates are very different from service rates, and different again from industrial rates.
It's the same here. We charge less for a contract crew than a T&M crew and those rate vary according to the work environment. T&M crew in a house is about $30 an hour more than the same crew under contract is. Servicemen are the same in any environment except machine troubleshooting which is more. Tech specialists are the highest because of the advanced training costs and their ability to troubleshoot so much more efficiently. We have to charge more per hour for them because they have a tendency to blow through calls and spend more time traveling as well. We inform the customer of the rate for the specific person or crew working for them and explain the rate system when they ask.
