On page 9-9 in Stallcup's study guide it says:

The motor's total full-load current rating shall be calculated at 25 or 125 percent per 220.14(C) and 220.50, which is required per 430.24 and 430.25, for calculating the load of one or more motors with other loads.

This is in reference to residential calculations - single-family dwellings.

My question is where does the "25 percent" come from and how is it applied?

I only see 125 percent in code.

Thanks,
Ron

I don't have a copy of Stallcup. But I think the notion is that if you start with 100% of something and then tack on an extra 25% of that something, you wind up with a total of 125% of that something. It's just two ways of saying the same thing.
