Question if you have a gas washing mashine and a gas dryer can you use a dedicated 20 amp circuit to service both washer and dryer. I can't find it in the code

Yes, in most cases.

One 20 amp circuit will work fine. I've yet to see this be a problem.

No external water heater required.

Must have been a typo.
But a washer circuit can be used for a gas dryer.
