LED aluminum channel

What is your preferred way to do undercab lighting if aluminum housing is being used? There is the profile with a flange or without. The flange has a nice finished look but the straight profile allows you to recess the light a little deeper and does not require such exact dimensions and carpentry.

Any thoughts.

I have installed plenty of ribbon without the channel, but never with.

The GC's and architects I work with seem to think the channel and diffuser is important. I agree with you that it isn't really necessary.

Almost all to LED strip I install, I use a simple aluminum channel and attach with small pieces of exterior 2-sided tape
