OEM ballast runs $143, being that this item failed within 2 years i am hesitant to purchase the same unit again... this is why i'm looking for a non OEM replacement

Obviously you're operating the ballast incorrectly, all this stuff lasts for 8 gobzillion years! LED is maintenance free! :D

Pardon my sarcasm, it's aimed at the LED crowd. Almost all of this stuff has a five year warranty, call the manufacturer.

That's a constant voltage driver. Any 100W or higher 24v power supply for LED lighting will do.

It's a switching power supply. Exactly like power brick for electronic equipment. Why some fail early is often due to poor design, but the QC process too.

Semiconductor parts have a bath tub curve (failure rate is very high when brand new and at end of life). A process called burn-in is used to burn out products that would otherwise fail in the field. It's usually done at full stress and those that fail are tossed BEFORE they're shipped out.

Premature failure is common in low bid knock off brands due to milder burn-in or skipping it entirely. What would've failed in burn-in fails in the field and they remedy the situation by simply offering to send another one.

People will think like this. That's why brand names do what they can to catch duds before they leave as they're damaging to brand reputation.
