I've installed a lot of LED bypass tubes but never worked with direct replacement type that use the original fixture ballast. Would they work in emergency lights with battery backup? Has anyone used these?

LED tubes powered by a flourescent ballast?
They make such a thing?

I can't recall ever installing the LED tubes that used the fluorescent ballasts (Type A) -- just the bypass ones (Type B).
They do make hybrid LED tubes (A+B) that will work with the ballast or bypassed (don't ask me how). They also make LED tubes that have their own integral backup. I have a feeling you'd have to consult a manufacturer to know whether a certain LED would work with an emergency ballast.

The Type A replacement tubes I have seen only work with electronic ballast. I don't remember any other restrictions in the instruction sheets.

Someone asked about that earlier this year, but I don’t remember the response.

I would hesitate to use LED tubes in anything but an LED emergency fixture.
So if you had a 4-tube fluorescent fixture w/EM ballast, with one tube only for EM lighting, you could replace the 3 with LED and have to keep the EM ballast with one fluorescent tube?

You can do whatever works.
But as far as installing the wrong tube in a emergency egress light that is not something I would do.
Liability.

Seems like someone on here found a direct wire led lamp with a built in battery backup?
I have seen those online but never worked with any of them. I may have posted questions about them before, can't recall.
