Contractor contact me for advise. Qualified electrician. Installed Acuity Brand Parking garage LED fixtures and they are producing a random popping noise, much like a walnut hitting a metal roof. He is reaching out to supplier and factory representative, but I am curious if anyone has had this experience that could point to a direction to troubleshoot. I am the inspector but trying to assist. Job involved installation of 20 total on three (3) separate circuits. I asked if he check any spikes with amp probe, and he said he would stop back at the job and check. Look for any suggestion for the experts on this site.

How is it known for sure the noise is originating from the LED ballast?

I think my first step would be to open the fixture and energize it while I was next to it so I could pinpoint where exactly the sound was originating. Then I would get the supplier to send me another fixture I could rob the guts out of and send the old back for warranty. There's no point in spending a lot of time trying to shake the ghosts out of Chinese junk, unless it's just a purely academic exercise.

Perhaps heat expansion? LED mounting screws over torqued? I can’t remember if it was Acuity or another brand, but they had a lot of fixtures that the driver mounting screws were over torqued, causing the circuit board to short out.
