I have 73 LED fixtures that have no listing. We contacted the supplier for a schematic to submit with 10% of the fixtures for the UL lab in Tampa.

Supplier says there is no schematic.(BS?)

Heres the info,

American DJ
Model P36 LED
S/N 27724005

Any help would be great.
Thanks
Chris

Sorry to say, with ADJ products there is a really good chance your are being told the truth.
More specifically, much of their stuff is re-branded imports. If they can get the schematic from the actual manufacturer, they may not be able to figure out exactly which manufacturer built your unit, to then know which schematic to give you.
Can the cost of getting a field cert. on 73 of these units really cost that much less than just getting new units that are already listed? Be happy to help with some alternate suggestions if you need it.

For what it's worth, UL was at the site today and DID NOT approve these fixtures.

1) Transformer has no Class 2 listing.
2) Data plate say's .5A fuse. Theres no fuse inside.

Beware, these fixtures are Bobo.

I had a contractor try to install some that did have a listing and when I showed them to the local UL guy they got their listing pulled.

Chris, following up on the previous question, can you tell us what UL charged for that service? And do you think it was worth it vs just sending the fixtures back?

I did not supply the fixtures or call UL out and the UL rep that did the work is not responsible for the billing. When the bill comes in I'll update and mabey can get a rough figure tomorrow.

I can tell you that the club owners are now stuck with $9000 worth of garbage. How can American DJ sell this stuff?

Thanks, I could probably call my buddy over at UL and get an idea of the cost. I was just kind of wondering.

$9000 + the cost of UL to tell them it's junk.

I had a similar incident but everything worked out in the end. Architect specs these wac lights for a screen porch. The brochure had no listing for damp location. I called the factory twice and both times they insisted they were NOT listed for damp location.

The lighting consultant calls Wac Lighting and they say they are listed for damp location.

Yesterday I shot an email to them saying if we buy them there must be a label on the can denoting that it is damp location rated. He said the stickers are in the fixture.

We will see. By the way they are very sharp looking lights. The fixture is a dr-301

Lots of lenses to choose from.

Right here.
I had a conversation with the owner of a lighting sore about some of the LED fixtures he's selling. Not one of them features the UL label, but it was his general feeling that LED fixtures designed for the marine industry with the AYBC approval would pass UL muster if tested by the UL. Take that for what it's worth.

How? They market like crazy to DJs and club owners and their stuff costs half or less than similar products. Think of it like this, you can buy a generic adjustable wrench for $5 or a real Crescent-brand one for $20. They look the same to most people.

OK, my question really should have been, would it have just been easier to send them back as soon as you saw they weren't listed or do you think the extra $2450 would have been worth it if they could have approved them.

Man I used to think I was king of the smartasses until I joined this forum.

its miami. safe to assume that the club owners will simply have their alcoholic handyman guy install them after contractors and inspectors are gone.
