A frequent church customer calls today, and says they are considering an additional parking lot pole on the rear of the church. He said one of the church members wants to put up a 480v LED light.....That's something new to me....Any one had experience with LED parking lot lights?

We are getting ready to test a few of these in our supermarket parking lots.
They claim 40% energy savings with comparable lumen output.
I think the 180 watt version (power consumption) was close to $1700.00 wholesale. Ouch.

I'm not sure with only one you would ever see a payback in energy saved. Although lamp life is a big factor as well.

I personally like HPS for site lighting, easier on the eyes.

Check this site out, alot of good metal halide vs. LED comparisons.

Thanks I'll have to read that, getting ready to hit the hay...I'll pass it along to the customer as well. I think he's sorta fighting the other guy, not wanting to put in LED, he wants to match existing lights....

I'd match exisitng, that ol LED will stick out like a sore thumb.

LED saves on the electrical for sure. (About 4.5 time more effecient). But the best selling point is the life of the product. Meaning, they don't have the cost and liability of changing the bulbs. Add this in the factor and the savings increase. Don't forget to amoratize the energy savings. That adds up too!
