Have you had LED recessed lights make a buzzing noise while on a dimmer? (Commercial Electric brand lights, Halo, and Utilitech brand) On a Lutron dimmer made for LED. Thank you

Well, I tried doing my homework and switching out the Commercial Elec. 6 inch retrofit recessed lights with Utilitech retro lights and followed the paperwork instructions on the Lutron model of dimmer they recommend. Still buzzing noise. :( I want a happy customer. I've never had trouble with these dimmers and Utilitech recessed lights before. I'm ready to take them all out and switch brands for them and the dimmer both... Any suggestions??? Thank you

Call Lutron and have them check the date code on the dimmer for compatibility with the trim. You'll most likely need a dimmer fresh from the factory with the latest date code.

I had a similar situation end of last year where an induction cooktop was buzzing like a bee hive after installing new LED recessed lighting. I had a new dimmer, but it had been on the shelf awhile. Called Lutron, got a new dimmer, all worked fine.

While bench testing or installed? Some that is a bit annoying while bench testing is acceptable once the LED ballast is tucked away in the can. Unfortunately, some LED ballasts are much louder than other and there are times when you have to sort by hand picking.

Lutron has a compatibility list on their website. You have to use a lamp that they have tested and deemed compatible with their dimmers. It is quite limiting. Lots of basic LEDs out there readily available at the big box stores that aren't on the compatibility list. Lutron basically wipes their hand of it if you use a lamp not on their chart. I also wonder how lutron dimmers work in a resi setting when connected to a portable backup generator.

I called Lutron, they are sending me another dimmer in a week, however the tech said it won't make any difference. I decided to try a third brand, EICO LEDs, with the Lutron dimmer my Elec supply store recommended. They worked ! No buzzing. The Lutron tech did say to go on their website to see compatible LEDs, which I will do. I have a satisfied customer finally though. Thank you.
