Led signs disconnecting means

Since the voltage is in the 12 volt range and the current is limited,my question is : Does the sign (outdoor) need a disconnecting means at or on the sign? Help..this sign is 80 ft in the air on a building.

I believe you need a disco. Except is for exit lights & for cord & plug connected signs. You still have higher voltage going to the led driver.

Right here.
Are you sure the sign doesn't have one on it already? I don't think I've ever seen a sign come out of any UL sign shop without one, ever. They can disguise them pretty good, sometimes. They're often no more than a little toggle switch with a rubber boot to make them weatherproof.

It would not matter if the sign ran on a 6 volt supply, 600.6 requires some sort of disconnecting means.

I realize that but it seems I confused things-- I was just trying to make a point of the low volts to the sign. I quoted the exceptions and I thought that claified it.

I just wanted to make sure that folks did not go away thinking that rules changed for lower voltage. :)
