Does anyone know what kind of LED are used in exit signs? I have few exit lights and I want to replace some of the LED from red to white.

If by kind you mean color....clear should be in most. LED's are generally part of a printed board and not easily altered, effectively anyway, in my experience.

You cannot just 'change' the leds without modifying the power supply to compensate for the voltage and current requirements of the replacements. Especially going from red to white. Bad idea.

I am not sure of the type of EXIT light you're dealing with, but as previously stated the LED type typically are made onto a printed circuit board , there are some tube (bayonet) style LED's of which I know Watt-Man makes but I believe they are only available in red and green colors. The Watt-Man LED retrofit kits come with 2 bulbs & a choice of adapters to accomodate bi-pin and intermediate base types . Hope this helps.

LED from Red to White

LED from Red to White

going from red to white I realised that it needs a different voltage and I have been looking all over the place to see if I can find some skematics that would show me what resistors I would need to change in order to adjust the voltage to the voltage required by the white LED's.
I want to change the LED on this ex-exit signs so I can use the LED boards under my kitchen cabinet as a night light.
Thank you for all your replies

ianis,
The above is a good resource for doing fun home electronics projects but by no means supports modifying Listed or Labeled electrical devices compliant to the usual code requirelments. rbj

There are low cost lighting fixtures for that purpose that are approved such as string lites.

Why can't you leave the exit light and use these

They are designed for replacing regular exit bulbs.

Here is the link.

These are similar to the Watt-Man only the W-M style aren't encapsulated as these are , and you get the same base adapters . $11.40 per set is the lowest local price near me.
Just checked , they do have white as well here's a link :

I don't modify life safety equipment, I replace it.

A listed retro-fit kit maybe.....just 'winging it' no way.

iwire , per his response in #6 ...
"I want to change the LED on this ex-exit signs so I can use the LED boards under my kitchen cabinet as a night light."

So he doesn't intend to still use 'em for life safety.

Well that changes things.
