LED Wafer type fixture that works with double 5/8" Sheetrock?

Know of any of those wafer lights that have the spring clips that would work with DOUBLE layer 5/8" Sheetrock?

That's what I would do... use a drywall saw and cut down the upper layer using the saw at a steep angle.

If you have a double layer of 5/8 Sheetrock isn't that a fire rated ceiling? Can you install those types of fixtures in a fire rated ceiling?

Great question, would probably have to contact the manufacturer or look at the spec sheet to find out.

The double layer isn't for fire rating.
It's because they have popcorn ceiling texture so they'll put another layer just to avoid dealing with the texture.

In that case, you can probably enlarge the slight gap between layers and hang the light on only the lower layer.
