Thanks guys
I took the test yesterday and I have a question
There was a question on the test about open delta transformers and how to change the wiring to use with the lower voltage. I have never worked around this nor do I know how to answer that question. They wanted to know what wires went where

Scott Thompson has done some excellect work building a reference base in the Electrical Theory and Applications section, and the Technical Reference section, of Electrical Contractor . net

This is an example of his great work:

The image shows the classic power company open-delta transformer bank secondary hook up that provides both 120/240 volt single phase and 240 volt three phase.

Does this help with what you recall of the test question?

Hello Chris,

Did you take the computer based exam or the paper & pencil? In Texas if you take the written exam there can be a wait of up to 6 weeks but with the computer test you receive an unoffical pass/no pass instantly when the test is completed.

Ga only offers the written test

Hope you passed, Chris. Thank God I had a computer test- the 5 second wait to find out if I had passed nearly killed me, I couldn't have waited 6 weeks!

In Georgia we have a writen exam in two 4hr parts. About 20 of the questions are practice for the testing Co. and don't count, we have no idea which ones. I hoped the open delta question Chris spoke of was one of those when I took it November.

The test goes from Atlanta to the testing company for grading and then to the electrical board of georgia to be signed off on. A day or two after the meeting the Sec of State's web site begins including/updating names. Also if you have registered an email addy they have an update section that gives your a check against your name as you complete the process from application to notification. One line says something like board received results and if after the Board meeting you go from a red cross to a green check I was told by two ladies at the office of the board you have passed. ;)

The board meets at the end of next week so Chris may know by the following week. The didn't meet at the scheduled time for me due to illness, so I and about 250 others waited an until the following month for the next meeting. I did the exam on 1 Nov. and was licenced on the 12th December according to the sec of states site but my other paper work says the 17th. :-?

I hope this sheds some light on Georgia, as I also do not understand why you can not walk from that room with a ticket that says pass or see you next time.

AAAAAAhhhhhh computers if only their operators would not hold them back! They could rule the world. LOL

Good luck Chris:grin:
