Has anyone tried lever lock receptacles? A neighbor said he'd seen them online. I saw one just now, looked good. Added benefit of not allowing 2 pairs of wires to attach. Forces pigtailing.

I have and for homeowners and service work they can be nice but the added material cost doesn't make sense for me for new work. The switches are where they excel in time savings but I personally like the side wire clamps on Decora switches as they are but I did compare time and they are about a 1/4 faster for switches for me. For outlets they are exactly the same time for me but that's because I use standard cover plates vs 3/8ths oversized and have to break off the tabs on the top and the bottom for screw less plates

Ah, I hate standard plates. Fine if good finish around box but I see way too many that are not.

Don't like the oversized as a lot of the time the receptacle and the switch covers don't match in size, just looks off to me. But I agree that standard plates many times misses the mark due to issues around the outlet or switches that are not due to the electrician and not within the control of the electrician. Solution? The guy doing the sheet rock and finishing has responsibility to create a neat and workmanlike quality.
Got a couple of GC that I do work for that "hate" seeing oversized covers and will call back a rocker/taper to fix and not allow an oversized covers. Other than these GC generally a "call back" will end up with a box full of mud and usually by time you know the cover won't fit you have a device installed so the device is also covered in mud. Can you say vindictive.

I once did a two-apartment job for a guy who had me working with his handyman who was doing most of the work. When I told him he needed to mud around all of the boxes better before I could put the plates on, he said he would patch and paint after I put them on! 😯

I dislike oversize plates. Not only the size, but they are usually the flexible mushy ones and they look like junk. The entire drywall finishing industry needs to take a 15 minute course to get refreshed on the size of a device plate.

I just got some of the Hubbell edgeconnect devices to try out. Haven't used them yet, ill try to remember to report back.

I'm going to start using the Lev Lok GFCI receptacles as courtesy receptacles in our control panels. Easy to wire, and no exposed terminals even when mounted on an open bracket in the panel.

nice. I was hoping for finger safe with those hubbell edgeconnect regular receptacles but they have exposed links to break to split the receptacle.

Plus a day long course on not damaging boxes and wire with rotozips. Plus a day long course on not burying boxes. We used to work remodels for a supposedly "high end" GC. He was always pushing for faster and harder. He was one of the worst offenders for all these issues. Just about needed jumbo plates to cover the sloppy drywall cutting. I wanted to tell him a few times that the work wasn't ready for trimout but boss was desperate for the money & the guy did pay on time. That was the 1 good thing he did.

I had to replace a house full of Hubbell TR receptacles. Hubbell is now a junk brand IMHO. Still charging high prices though. I bought a Hubbell range receptacle that the terminals broke when I installed it.

I liked their non tamper x clamp side wire receptacles but not a fan of their TR method. I personally like PnS for cheap range receptacles but only Leviton is available where I'm at now.

Got a free 20 amp non TR duplex receptacle from Hubbell a few months ago. I pushed in the white locking lever ( w/o a wire in the slot ) and can not get it to open. Tried three screwdrivers & needle nose pliers. Worst part usual high quality high priced Hubbell have them made in cheating lack of quality control Communist china. I will never purchase or install devices, circuit breakers, etc made in cheating china in my own house.

You cool with Mexican breakers I hope

For the record, they are "Lev-Lock" and that is proprietary to Leviton. Raco has Snapconnect, P&S has Plugtail. I have only used them at hospitals and schools. I would NEER use them in my own home because it would be difficult to find one at a store when one failed. It has to be the same brand and configuration, and I don't know of a single supply house in my area that stocks them on the shelf. They closest may be Graybar with Raco in their "zone" warehouse. They are great for construction because I can wire up the wiring system, turn on the circuits and quickly trim out at the last minute.

Have used them. I like for metal boxes as no "hot" screws on sides. They hold on wire very good, push in and pull out of box and doesn't release. Like especially for the switches, they make 3Way and SP Lev-Lock too. Cuts install time a lot.

Agree 100%. I have one builder who insists on me using mid-sized plates. I do it, and told him they look like a mistake.
