I was wondering if anyone has installed one of these unit in the past. I am interested to learn how it would be wired into a panel. Would a circuit enter the Levitron 51120-1 and then be connected to the circuit breaker? How effective are they?
Thanks,
Fran

I've installed perhaps 50 of the 42,000 series and a few of the 51,000.
You need a three pole branch circuit breaker, usually a 30 amp.
Plan out your installation to the lead length on the hot wires is as short as possible, put the TVSS on the side or bottom of the panel. Don't worry too much about the lead lenght of the neutral or ground. If you double the lead lenght you double the impedance of the wires
For this installation, no loops and run as straight as possible.
The 52,000 and maybe the 51,000 series can be wired as a feed thru where you hit the device and then continue on to the load.
Levition has a very good toll free tech line.

So Tom if I understand you, This device would be installed in the first slot of each phase and in series with the panel. (if it is a top fed panel) It would have a lead for each phase, a lead for neutral and a lead for the grounding conductor. Hook those up and you are pretty much done. The device would work as a mouse trap (so to speak) directing any transient voltage to the unit via a path with the lowest impedience.
Thanks,
Fran

That was good for a laugh. Did you know no new electricity has been generated
since 1937? They are very clever, they send you the electricity, you send it back, and then they send it back again, and never get caught.

Don't tell anyone, but I've been hoarding electrons. I keep them under my mattress.
