License Holder

In a large muncipality, most likely nothing in the short term, but it would be a scramble to get a new license holder that is an employee or partner. In a smaller area someone in the inspection department may hear of bad news, license holder quit, died.

Hi,
I have a new license holder, however, don't know if the open permits will transfer to under his name now? Where we have already passed the rough in inspection, what happens to it? e/m.

I would call each jurisdiction where you have open permits and ask them what is required.

This has happened before and will happen again so they have to have some sort of procedure in place to deal with it.

It may be nothing more than having the new guy come in and put his name on the permits and state that he will supervise the work and take responsibility.

Out of half dozen counties around here I don't think any two of them handle things the same way. Some are greedy and want $50 to transfer a permit others just want someone to be responsible ( anyone).

Yes you are right, there is no uniformity in Maryland either between jurisdictions, and we have many of them. Heck even some towns have their own show going!! Thanks for your reply. e/m.

With an open permit here, we wouldn't know if the license holder changed unless someone informed us. Or unless we were very proactive.

You must contact the building dept and change the license holders name before final. Some depts will require the old holder to sign off. I can't pass a final without the change if I am aware of it.

We have done the change of the name at the county electrical licensing office. Is that what you meant by building office, or is it a different department?

i'd remedy that pretty quick, i would'nt even think of working on
someone's permit
