Does the NEC permit mounting of 2'x4' flourescent fixtures solely from a single pendant? The situation is a retrofit job where HID fixtures that were supported by a single 3/4" RGS conduit in a highbay location were replaced with with 2'x4' flourescents fixtures. The new fixtures have an optional pendant mount box, provided by the manufacturer, and the box has a standard knockout in the top.
As presently supported, fixtures do not seem to be very secure and I do not feel meet the intent of 410.30(A). I also believe that this installation does not comply with 314.23 H(2) which states that a "luminaire supported by a single conduit shall not exceed 12" in any horizontal direction from the point of conduit entry." Am I correct in this interpretation?
Thanks for your help
