Will the light switch installed inside elevator pit to control pit light need to be wet location, pilot light switch type?

Not that I've ever known.

I've only wired residential elevators, a couple dozen of them. But here's what I go by, with no mention of water or pilot lighted switch...

620.24 Branch Circuit for Hoistway Pit Lighting and Receptacle(s).
(A) Separate Branch Circuit. A separate branch circuit shall supply the hoistway pit lighting and receptacle(s).
Required lighting shall not be connected to the load side of a ground-fault circuit interrupter.
(B) Lighting Switch. The lighting switch shall be so located as to be readily accessible from the pit access door.
(C) Duplex Receptacle. At least one 125-volt, single-phase, 15- or 20-ampere duplex receptacle shall be provided in the hoistway pit.
Informational Note:  See ASME A17.1-2010/CSA B44-10, Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators, for illumination levels

ASME 17.1 2.8.3.3.4
If a sprinkler head is installed in the pit then all electrical equipment within 48” of pit floor must be listed wet location. With that said the pit lighting switch will be located at sill level at ladder and not within the 48” of pit floor so the wet location thinking probably just wicked upwards to include the switch.
