light switch location in bathroom

the door to the bathroom opens inside and to the left and toward the wall. from left to right around the bathroom wall perimeter located are a toilet, a sink and a tub. lighting switch is on the right hand side of the door and next to the tub.

is it the right location for the switch that controls ceiling lighting fixture?

should the door be reversed and should it open inside and to the right toward the tub, and then the switch would be located on the left side of the door and away from the tub?

reference to a code article would be an acceptable proof for the architect.

thank you, igor.

Re: light switch location in bathroom

thank you Ryan for your responce.

in your opinion, should we insist on moving the switch and reversing the door and make it as a part of the design?

if location matters, we are in nyc.

Who are ?we?? Are you the installer or a representative of the owner? When design issues come into play, the decision always lies with the owner. You can try to convince the owner that your suggestion is a better idea, and you might succeed. But the architect (or other designer) may be justified in requesting an additional payment for re-designing the room, and that fact might influence the owner?s decision.

Nothing in NEC even says the switch has to be in the bathroom. It could be in the hall and yes i have seen them there.
I assume it is already installed so now the issue is where did the print show it.If sparky followed the print then he will charge you to move it.When in dought we follow the print then we can charge you if it was wrong.
