this question was on a Ca. state test that I could not find in the code book. What is the Maximum number of branch circuit conductors permitted in a recognized wiring method between luminaries connected together on a single phase 120/240 volt system ?

Poorly worded in my opinion. Based on 410.64(C) I would answer 4 conductors, 2 circuits but there may be a better answer.

That was there answer , Thank you other things could limit two , derating I stuck hard on that one.

410.64(C)
2 wire branch circuit = 2
or
1 multi wire branch circuit = 3

One additional 2 wire circuit is permitted which would make it 4 conductor with the 2 wire branch circuit and 5 wires with the multi wire branch circuit. (single phase)

(3 phase would be 4 wires for multi wire branch circuit and 2 wires for an additional circ = 6 wires)

??? where am I off?

thank you

The question stated single phase so 3 phase is out.
agree, Answer could be 5 based on the MWBC.
Unsure what his answer choices were.

Really was worded bad , that`s probably why i missed it , I know I really didn`t , I skimmed and missed that`s no longer on the test .
