Lighting Control Keypad at all exits?

I'm laying out a lighting control system (all remote circuits) and wondering if I need to place a low voltage keypad at every exit of a residential structure. IE there is a patio that has two french doors - do I need a keypad at each door? Also, if all hall and stairwell lighting is time automated, do I need keypads at the top and bottom of the stairwells as well?

Thanks.

Re: Lighting Control Keypad at all exits?

The code does not specify the location the switches must be located for the control of lighting outlets, except for interior stairways.

However, there is even an exception for that requirement. So to answer your questions, there is not a single location you would be required to have the keypads as long as long as one point of control is provided somewhere.

Also, the storage or equipment spaces will need a switch control at the point of entry to those spaces. See section 210.70 of the NEC.
