Lighting design? who?

Fellas,

I am trying to layout a lighting design for our church camp bunkhouse we are looking to build. A couple of rooms of around 40' by 30'. Probably end up with 2x4 T8s.

Do you recommend any site that I can access(that is simple to use)? I really don't want to run to a vendor and feel obligated to buy from him.

Any thoughts and/or advice?

There are many posts on lighting design and software if you search for them (upper right of this window) some free software from lithonia rings a bell.

We have been using the simkar software since it was released, and it makes for a great learning tool considering it's free, the fixture selection is limited, but it wil give yu a chance to get the feel for lighting software.

if the room doesn't have a particular furniture layout and can be changed from time to time -- just go with a standard layout using 2 X 4's(four light) which will actually over light the room. if there's a particular permanent arrangement you could go to 1 x 4 (two light) and light the areas requiring added light. the first layout is gonna be best for you because there will be less fixtures!!!

I find it takes less effort to simply fax the room layout to the supply house and let them send it to the lighting rep they can give me a better price on the fixtures than the box stores and alot less work for me.
