Have a pool room with 2-8' strip lights built into a wooden frame over each table. They came with the tables with SJ going to a male plug, which will be going to a duplex receptacle above each table ( dropped ceiling). Receptacles are designed to be computer controlled (remote wireless). Will there be any problem with running 16/2 SJ w/gnd to a standard male plug, plugged into these receptacles. I have five tables on a 20 amp branch circuit. It would look terrible with 12/2 SJ w/gnd going to each receptacle. Both lights draw about 3 amps total. Wire would be ty-wraped to rod holding up frame.

I would check that the remote system can handle inductive lighting loads, and that the receptacles are properly supported and installed flush with ceiling, not above it.

If you're asking whether the #16 is heavy enough for two of these fixtures, I'd say yes. Code is more concerned with the wiring above the ceiling than what you plug in.

I was more concerned that the inspector would be looking for 20 amp rated SJ drops, being that the this isn't a factory wired assemblt.
