Lighting greenhouse requires exit sign?

If a large public greenhouse 144 feet long by 30 feet wide has electric lighting then does code require illuminated exit signs? If so which code and section. Thanks

If you do need exit signs (public being key), you may also need egress lighting.

That would be a different code book, the NEC has nothing to do with exit signs.

Section 1013 of the International Building Code is usually what is adopted in most jurisdictions regarding Exit Signs. This is a link to the 2018 version

1008.3.5 of the same code covers egress lighting if you need it.

The requirement for exit signs would be in the building code typically and normally would be based on the occupant load of the particular use. If the occupancy is small enough, then exit placards could be used with lighting coming from the ceiling lights provided. As always, check with the AHJ for confirmation.
