LIGHTING IN A VERY REMOTE AREA???

Could anyone provide any recommendations on a product used for lighting in a remote area that does not have electrical power supply?

I am needing to provide lighting throughout the night in several locations. Is there such a "light pole" that is solar powered that can provide light throughout the night? Would it still provide light after being charged a cloudy day? I would need something as maintenance free as possible. 400 watts or so should be suffice for each location, but if not I could add another. Also, I would hope to get something that will somewhat render color--unlike a sodium light.

I would appreciate any recommendations or experiences you may have.

Several companies make LED street and area lights. LED Tronics is one that comes to mind. There is a Canadian company that has a complete solar powered shoe box LED fixture.
400 watts HPS, incandescent or =?
I suggest you look at the foot candles required it will be .2 to 1 fc, and then determine the light source and then the power supply.
The Photo Voltatic mfgs can determine how panel watts and batteries are needed for your location. Its all based on solar radiation.
The applicable NEC article is 690

Selux, www.selux.com, has a product, Sonne, that is totally solar powered. Unfortunately it is not going to get you the 400W output you are looking for. The max is a 42W CF. The battery max is 2-100 Amp hour batteries with a variety of charging panels.

You won't get a whole lot of light output, but if you are out in the middle of nowhere without light pollution, you will not need much light to make it look bright.

Re: LIGHTING IN A VERY REMOTE AREA???

I am basically trying to come up with some options for improving a current system being used. If you visit www.virtualhunts.com , you will see the application. This is a site that allows you to "virtually" hunt deer 24/7 by literally controlling six cameras. I have no affiliation with this site--just a user that is trying to help improve the evening hunts. If any of you deer hunt, you know how nice it would be to hunt in the evening when the big boys come out.
In any event, the current system seems to be solar powered led strips. I know this sounds funny, but the racoons climb up on the automatic feeders and destroy the strip lights. I am looking for some solar powered pole light that will effectively light the area. There are some out there that I am aware of, but I would like to get some recommendations from anyone that has experience with them. Plus, if the price of a proposed system is complimentary to the current, it may be worth the investment. Only one of the six feeder locations seems to operate because of this recurring damage.

I know this may be kind of odd for this site, but there is a lot of experience on this site that have helped me in the past.

Touch base with the people at SOL Inc. ( htt://www.solarlighting.com )

They (and no doubt other manfacturers of solar lighting) understand that they are selling a product that the typical electrical contractor is unfamiliar with. They will gladly help you with design and product selection.
