Lighting outlet required?

Per 210.70(C), a lighting outlet is required in attics for equipment requiring servicing. My question is, is a lighting outlet required for a cord and plug radon fan?

To me the fan is likely to require servicing thus a light is needed.

I could actually go either way on it. Would replacing the fan motor be considered servicing? Curious as to the reason behind the yes or no opinions.

I read some of the fan brochures and it appeared they required occasional servicing.

In most instances, why wouldn't the existing illumination suffice or be made to suffice?
Don't service people carry drop lights or other portable lighting?

If there is existing illumination for the area where the equipment is located, there is no requirement to provide an additional lighting outlet.

No idea of how you would use a laundry tray without existing illumination.

Since the fan needs occasional servicing and it’s in the attic, a lighting outlet is usually required by code—regardless of whether it’s hardwired or plugged in. It’s all about making sure the area is safely accessible for maintenance
