Lighting with emergency option

Hi Guys, I design one residential project. There are about 80 units. the design requirement is that every 3 LED lights should have one light with EM(emergency) option in the hallway. So for these lights with emergency option, do I need to use separate branch circuit? Is it necessary to use emergency lighting panel and inverter to meet emergency requirement?

I really appreciate any advice.

David

You can either put an emergency ballast (with a battery pack) in each emergency fixture. These would all need a unswitched hot wire ran to each light so the lights know when the power goes off.

Or you can run install a central inverter or generator. If you do this, you need separate branch circuits in separate conduits.

Probably other code requirements too - that's the bare basics.
