Not sure if this is place to post this. Question about lighting. One of the moderators said on another post about lighting in a SFR is building code issue not electric code requirment. Does this mean that lights are'nt required by elec code? how about chapter 2, 210 and 220?
 
If you read the NEC...where does it say a fixture must be installed?

The NEC will tell you many watts/sq. ft for general lighting, but the NEC does not dictate what type of fixture must be installed.

Many times in new construction you will find that fixtures are not installed - a box is installed, switched, etc...but no actual fixture is installed by the EC.

This is not an NEC violation - maybe a building code violation, but not NEC.

For general you mean just to allow for lights when you figure out what size service you need so you have enough amps and then make sure there's enough outlets. ? I see. Thanks
