Galvanic corrosion occurs when two dissimilar metals are in
contact with each other in the presence of an electrolyte. In
this situation, one metal becomes the anode and the other the
cathode. The anode will tend to go into solution and therefore
corrode. The electrolyte can be water with impurities from the
air, other surfaces or from the metal itself (refer to Section 7.1
