The IEEE standard requires bonding grounded equipment in close proximity to the LPS cable going to earth ground. The installer has bonded his LPS system cable to a 1 1/2" black iron pipe which is being used to carry Natural Gas to rooftop humidifiers. This bonding to a natural gas line seems to be a hazardous situation.

I don't believe it will hurt to bond the gas line. Where the flexible gas lines are used we are now required by the manufacturers to bond the pipes-- known as CSST piping.

The gas companies however do not like it but they usually have a dielectric fitting at their meter.
